These principles of safe sleep are based on American Academy of Pediatrics guidance for babies.
A - Alone: Baby sleeps alone in their own sleep space (no pillows, bumpers, toys, or loungers).
B - Back: Always place baby on their back for every nap and night.
C - Crib: Use a firm, flat sleep surface such as a crib, bassinet, or Pack-and-Play.
Safe sleep is the foundation. All sleep products and routines should support these principles.
A well-fitting swaddle can make an enormous difference in helping newborns settle, stay calm, and transition more smoothly between sleep cycles. Swaddles should NOT be used once baby starts to show signs of rolling. These are the swaddles I most frequently recommend based on ease of use, safety, and consistent results:
Ollie Swaddle — My go-to for parents who want something easy and effective. It stays snug, supports soothing, and works beautifully for babies who tend to escape traditional blankets.
Miracle Blanket or Sleepea Swaddle — Both provide a very secure fit. The Miracle Blanket is great for strong babies who break out easily, while the Sleepea offers quick, intuitive wrapping for tired parents.
When babies begin rolling, I recommend moving from a swaddle to an arms-free transition product. These options help maintain a cozy, contained feel while supporting safe movement:
Zipadee-Zip or Merlin Magic Sleepsuit — Zipadee-Zip offers gentle resistance that can ease the transition out of swaddling; the Merlin provides a structured, cozy feel that helps some babies settle more easily.
Halo SleepSack — A simple, reliable wearable blanket that works for most families.
A dark sleep space helps babies settle more easily, lengthen naps, and avoid early-morning wake-ups.

Consistent white noise and portable light for nightime wakings help reduce overstimulation and create a calm sleep environment.
